Getting started with Telnyx IoT

Welcome to Telnyx IoT, your gateway to out of the box global connectivity and simplified management for your IoT devices. This guide is designed to help you quickly get up and running with our SIM solutions, offering global connectivity, enhanced security, and intelligent device management via our Mission Control Portal or APIs.

Prerequisites

  • Telnyx account: Ensure you have an active account. Sign up for one if you haven't already.
  • Add a payment method: Ensure you’ve added a payment method to your account in the Telnyx Mission Control Portal so that you can buy SIMs and use data.

Starting out with Telnyx IoT

Buy a SIM card

  1. Navigate to the Wireless page in the portal.
  2. Select “Add SIM to cart”
  3. Edit the SIM quantity.
  4. Add your shipping address and select from the dropdown.
  5. Ensure you have enough credit on your account.
  6. Select “Place Order”.

Buy an eSIM

  1. Navigate to the Wireless page in the portal.
  2. Select “Purchase eSIM”.
  3. Choose your desired status for the SIM (Disabled, Enabled, Standby).
  4. Select “Purchase”.

Register your SIMs

When you receive your SIM card, follow the following steps to get connected:

  1. Go to the SIM registration page.
  2. Type in the 10 digit registration code (the code is printed on the SIM card). If you have multiple SIM cards you can register them together by uploading the registration codes in a CSV file.
  3. Click Register SIM.

Device setup

Insert the SIM card into your device and configure the APN to the following:

  1. Name: Telnyx

  2. APN: data00.telnyx

  3. Leave all other fields unmodified (even if the fields are blank)

  4. Save the new APN.

  5. Enable data roaming on your device

  6. Some devices may require you to reboot in order for the changes to take effect.

    How to configure the APN on Android devices:

    • Navigate to your device settings
    • Select: Mobile Networks → Access Point Names
    • Select the 3 dots icon at the top right and select "Add"

    How to configure the APN on iOS devices:

    • Navigate to your device settings by using the gearbox icon.
    • Select: Cellular → Mobile Data → APN
