# Test a Destination

> Check that the tunnel host reaches a destination, without Telnyx in the path.

`telnyx-edge tunnel test` dials a destination from the tunnel host, as the tunnel process does for each flow, and reports the result. Telnyx takes no part in the check:

```

ok — TLS handshake completed in 4 ms
```

The destination takes the same form as the `service` of a [private service](https://developers.telnyx.com/docs/network/tunnel/features/private-services.md) Preview or a [public hostname](https://developers.telnyx.com/docs/network/tunnel/features/public-hostnames.md) Preview, with its scheme and port.
