# versions

Every successful `deploy` is an immutable revision of the agent's function. `versions` lists each one, the active one marked, with the project's git short SHA at the time when the project is a git repository, so that a revision can be traced to the commit it was shipped from. The note is that SHA, `manual` when the project was not in a git repository, and `—` for a revision this CLI did not ship. A ship the platform lists without a revision id appears as `(none)` with its failure stage and reason; the BUILD and DEPLOY columns carry each revision's status.

The list is the platform's; `agent.json` records the active revision and a note per revision this CLI shipped under `deployed`, and [status](/docs/agents/cli/status) shows which one is serving. The platform refuses [rollback](/docs/agents/cli/rollback) today for every agent this CLI deploys, so the way back to an earlier revision is to check out its commit and `deploy` again.
