| Flag | Meaning |

| `--from <number>` | The sender, a number of the account's on a messaging profile other than the agent's. By default, the first active one that qualifies. |
| `--to <number>` | Which of the agent's numbers to text. By default, its first. |

`text` sends one SMS to the deployed agent's number from one of the account's own numbers and prints the reply. It runs inside the project, where it reads `agent.json` for the number, and the name is optional there: `telnyx-acp text "hi"`. Both numbers are Telnyx numbers, so the message stays on-net and needs no 10DLC registration. The sender's number is the conversation, and its memory profile. It is the way to exercise [the messaging webhook](/docs/agent-sdk/inside/request-handling/messaging-webhook) and [delivery](/docs/agent-sdk/inside/turn-taking/delivery) without a handset.
