# ports.environment

> `readonly` **environment**: `Readonly`\<`Record`\<`string`, `unknown`>>

## On the Agent Runtime

[The runtime adapter](/docs/agent-sdk/harness-sdk/adapters/runtime#on-the-agent-runtime) builds the port from `host`, which carries the protected members of the `Agent` class.

const host = getAgentHarnessHost(agent);
// …
const environment = host.selectEnvironment(options.environmentKeys ?? []);
// …
environment,
```

* `environment` holds only the bindings of [`this.env`](/docs/agent-sdk/interface/env) that `environmentKeys` names, in a frozen object.
