# ports.clock

## On the Agent Runtime

[The runtime adapter](/docs/agent-sdk/harness-sdk/adapters/runtime#on-the-agent-runtime) builds the port from `host`, which carries the protected members of the `Agent` class.

// runtime-adapter.ts
const host = getAgentHarnessHost(agent);
// …
clock: Object.freeze({ now: () => host.now() }),
```

* `now()` calls the class's [`now()`](/docs/agent-sdk/interface/now). The task scheduler reads time through the same method, so an override of `now()` sets the time for both.

Host clock used by queue and schedule operations.
