# ports.activation

> `readonly` **activation**: `object`

Opaque host-owned token stable for one live actor activation.

## On the Agent Runtime

[The runtime adapter](/docs/agent-sdk/harness-sdk/adapters/runtime#on-the-agent-runtime) builds the token from the `Agent` object itself.

const activations = new WeakMap();
function activationFor(agent) {
  let activation = activations.get(agent);
  if (activation === undefined) {
    activation = Object.freeze({});
    activations.set(agent, activation);
  }
  return activation;
}
```

* The token is one frozen object per `Agent` object. Ports built twice on one object share it.
* The Agent Runtime calls the [`constructor()`](/docs/agent-sdk/interface/constructor) on every activation. Each activation therefore has a new `Agent` object and a new token.
* The harness keeps its in-memory claims on runs and steps per token. A new activation starts without them.
